As to his first word, it took us all by surprise really. I let Mama watch him while I did the dishes. They were in her bedroom and I could hear them playing. When he uttered the word, "am-byie-ya!" I heard him quite distinctly. I also heard Mama's exultant laugh. I rushed to where they are and Mama related to me what happened.
They had been playing. As usual, he was messing with Mama's stuff in her headboard. To keep him from falling off the bed, Mama got some of the stuff, laid them on the bed, and blocked his way to the headboard. He was playing with the stuff for a while when he probably got bored and started to head towards the headboard again. Mama blocked him but he continued reaching out for something. Mama asked him what he wanted when, probably out of frustration also, he muttered the word while at the same time pointing to where the umbrella is.
Yup, "am-byie-ya!" means "umbrella." How's that for a baby's first word? hehehe Pretty unusual huh? I remember how we all laughed at the incident.
Ever since he was very little, Baby had always been fond of umbrellas. I couldn't count the times when we would be outside malling or eating in a restaurant when he would notice an umbrella at the neighboring table and would readily reach out for it. If we're bringing our umbrella with us, he would insist about holding it. That is why I would often ask him, "What's with you and umbrellas, ha?" So maybe that is why even early on he already has association with the word :)
If these pictures are not enough to illustrate his fascination with umbrellas, I do not know what else will :)

bwahahahhahaha!!! umbrella. looking at it, i come to realize that when you're under an umbrella you get close with one another, hmmmm, he likes it perhaps because he's protected, he's surrounded by the ppl hu would do anything not to harm him and not mention, surrounded by love. dba nga kon a boy and a girl shares an umbrella, cute kau, usually start pa og a different relationship... tsk hahaha corny...---c gladys ni, ka cute ni bolets oi, hope to play with him too one of these days, surely geian is going to enjoy playing with him also kd2 pa, pgkahilig sa kids sungogan kau! what happened to his hair?
hahaha we had his hair shaved following his 1st bday. to make it thicker. u saw how it was, longish but nipis kaayo! :) now it's starting to thicken :)
yeah hopefully u cud get to play with him one of these days :)
